Hi, I just found this forum today because I for a long time have been looking into becoming a Firefighter but had changed my career path to mechanical engineering. I currently have my Advanced Diploma in Mechanical engineering: Industrial design at Seneca College, a Diploma in Tool and Die making from Seneca, as well as a General health sciences certificate from Sheridan. My question is, if I become a Firefighter would I be able to use these certifications as a way to work my way up the ranks as a Firefighter? Also does it benefits having connections at a fire hall or do they general treat everyone as equals? what would the general hours be like as a fire fighter as well as pay? What are the chances of over time? Please help. Thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
